About Me

Who is Sarah DeLong-Duhon? It's me! I've been a photographer ever since I was 10 and my dad let me use his camera, and this is an new opportunity for me to share my photos with the world. In an ever-changing landscape of AI and fake images, I am committed to conveying the beauty of the natural world with minimal photo editing.

Below are some Q&A to help you get to know me better.

What are your Lightroom settings?

I usually stick to one or two personal Lightroom presets, occasionally trying new ones depending on the subject. My originals are not much different than the photo after edits.

What do you do?

I am a Microbiologist by day and a Mycologist by night. That is to say, I work full-time as a microbiologist and I volunteer my time as the president of the Prairie States Mushroom Club. I love to go mushroom hunting, not so much to find edible mushrooms, but to find photography subjects and scientific collections. I spend a lot of time identifying and documenting mushrooms, so I'm good at answering questions about them.

Which camera and lenses do you use?

These are the cameras I have used to shoot the photos you see here:

  • Nikon D3400 and Nikon Z30
  • Micro-Nikkor 55mm manual lens
  • AF-P Nikkor 18-55mm
  • AF-P Nikkor 70-300mm
  • AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm ED
  • OM Systems OM1
  • 60mm M. Zuiko

If you have questions about any of my gear, please let me know!

What are your other hobbies?

I am also a "recovering" artist, which is to say I was very art-focused when I was younger but lost touch with that side of me for over a decade, and I'm rediscovering it now. A lot of my art-sense comes through in my photographs, but if you want to see me play around with paint, follow me on Instagram!
